Prattville Dragoons Participate in Vida Christmas Parade

Several Dragoons from SCV Camp 1524 participated in another enjoyable Vida Community Christmas parade on Saturday December 19th on a beautiful cool day in Vida AL.  There were a large number of entries in the parade and many were sporting Confederate Battle Flags. After the parade, the members of the Vida Community Center provided a delicious BBQ meal for all attendees including chopped smoked pork and camp stew, sides and a huge selection of home made desserts and good fellowship was enjoyed by all. Many dignitaries holding public office participated as well and some candidates for political office were also in the parade. The atmosphere was very merry and relaxed in this peaceful, rural Alabama setting and all Dragoons expressed how much they enjoyed the day’s activities.

Dragoons included Cody Simon impersonating Elvis Presley; Danny Smyth brought his wonderful period cannon carrying it in the bed of his pickup truck which he adorned with historical Confederate flags. James Spears at 87 years young carried the camp banner with his son Larry the entire parade route up and back on County Road 19 west of Prattville. Chris Booth was there with his lovely wife Joy and their children including the newest family edition; Don Drasheff drove his sporty convertible.  Bill Branch and Dede tossed candy, coins and Battle flags from the back of Danny's truck as Commander Waldo walked alongside. Tom Crowley and Al Booth served as part of the parade spectators.
