Dragoons in Prattville Christmas Parade

Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 1524 participated in another Prattville Christmas parade on Friday December 4th.   The Dragoons presented another outstanding entry in the parade this year with a float complete with lights, Christmas tree and garland, many Confederate flags, and a number of participants including camp members, friends and family in period dress.  The Dragoons greeted all the spectators with smiles and greetings of “Merry Christmas" and gave out 700 mini-Battle flags, hundreds of SCV coins and bags of candy.  Even trying to pace distribution, all was handed out before the end of the parade route which ran east past the courthouse to Wetumpka Street and then back south to Main street to finish back on Court Street.  As always, the Dragoons were mobbed for all the goodies and couldn't give something to every one of the thousands of spectators but our float and flags was greeted with cheers, applause and flashes of photographs, almost blinding at times.  At least 12 Dragoons took part in the parade and a good band of reenactors from the Wetumpka area joined us to walk with their Confederate flags including National and Battle flags. A great start to the Christmas season for our camp and the city of Prattville.
